This week’s photo comes directly from FEECO’s state-of-the-art lab. A technician is examining a manure sample while a conveyor transports it throughout the testing process.

The equipment in FEECO’s lab can be configured to convert raw organic samples, be it cattle manure, poultry litter, hog slurry, or the like, into fortified fertilizer granules. The overall process produces a more easily handled and stored finished-product, and also eliminates the waste disposal problems that raw animal waste presents.

While organics granulation is an advantageous solution to the issues surrounding manure management, it does not come in a one-size-fits-all equipment and process configuration. Moisture content and other characteristics often vary with organic samples, and because of this, testing is critical to product and process development. FEECO’s lab technicians are highly experienced in testing organic samples, and regularly perform feasibility tests in the lab, to develop the best granulation process for a particular manure sample.

Once a process has been fine-tuned in the lab according to the customer’s specific needs, FEECO can then use that process data to provide a recipe for scale-up. FEECO’s engineers have the technology to create highly advanced fertilizer granulation systems which produce premium fertilizer granules from organic waste sources, and we’ve been doing so for over 60 years.
