This week’s photo shows a pugmill mixer from the FEECO Innovation Center, where our team of process experts conditioned an iron-based material.

Conditioning typically refers to the act of mixing a material; this may be to prepare it for pelletizing, to reduce issues associated with dust, or to make the material easier to handle and transport. Conditioning is achieved utilizing a tumbling, kneading and medium shear action in the pugmill, to thoroughly mix both liquid and solid feed materials.

The Innovation Center pugmill is 14” x 6’ and has processed many materials over the years. If you’re interested in testing a material at FEECO, contact us today!
