This week’s photo shows a damaged rotary drum tire.

Tires can become damaged if:

    • They are worn too thin.
    • The mounting blocks get worn, causing excess tire creep and movement.
    • The shell is distorted from over heating/cooling the drum.
    • The tires are shimmed too tight.

Tire replacement is often the best solution to tire damage. Welding can also be an option, though it is a last case resort, and a temporary solution.

Regular inspections and maintenance to not only tires, but all drum components, are imperative to operational efficiency and equipment longevity. FEECO’s Customer Service Engineers offer equipment/parts inspections to help diagnose issues at the onset, before they have the chance to escalate and affect other components. They also service both FEECO and non-FEECO equipment.

Furthermore, the FEECO Customer Service Engineering team can quote a variety of parts, including tires. For a tire replacement quote, simply provide the outside diameter, inside diameter, face width, and material hardness to parts at feeco.com.
