Question of the Week: What Role does Material Handling Play in Agglomeration?

Bulk material handling equipment moves raw and processed material from one location to another throughout the agglomeration facility. To effectively transfer the material, the following should first be evaluated when designing bulk material handling equipment used within an agglomeration operation:

Application. Will the material be moving long distances? Will the material be transported outside, where it is susceptible to inclement weather? Looking at the application as a whole, is important when designing a system that meets the unique needs of the operation.

Material. The material’s bulk density, angle of repose, and the nature of the material (i.e. is the material dry, sticky, or corrosive?) should all be considered when designing a material handling system. The nature of the material is especially important. For example, a dusty raw material may require a conveyor cover, to prevent product loss due to dust.

Space. Agglomeration facilities may have limited amounts of vertical and horizontal spaces, and therefore, any material handling equipment must fit in the designated area, while leaving room for other processing equipment.

FEECO is highly skilled in the design and construction of custom bulk material handling equipment used in agglomerate processing, with our experience dating back to 1951. We offer conveyor systems and bucket elevators for all of your material handling needs. Contact us today for more information.
