This week’s photo shows limestone pellets, which were created in the FEECO Innovation Center.

The pellets are what FEECO Process Experts refer to as “grass-grade,” meaning they are highly appropriate for golf green applications for use as a fertilizer. About 0.5 mm – 1 mm, the limestone pellets are less likely to affect a golfer’s game, should his or her golf ball come into direct contact with a pellet. In addition, the pellets break down quicker than their larger counterpart, thus providing nutrients to the lawn faster.

FEECO has pelletized an abundance of minerals over our 60+ year history, and has served many industries along the way as well. Limestone, in particular, offers several benefits in pelletized form, for golf green applications, as well as agricultural applications. Limestone pellets are more easily handled, stored, and transported, than in their raw, powder form, and thus less product is lost to dust. These benefits are true of many agglomerated materials, from minerals, to chemicals, and everything in between.
