This week’s photo shows an agglomerator used for processing gold ore.

The agglomerator, or agglomeration drum, agglomerates ore fines after they are crushed. This process creates a more proficient leach because the leaching solution is better able to permeate through the heap when the particles are uniform in shape and size.

The addition of an agglomerator to the heap leaching process is also beneficial because the leaching solution can be applied during agglomeration, producing a more homogeneous mix, and also pre-starting the leaching process.
