Today’s photo comes from the FEECO Innovation Center. A Process Expert is adding binder to a humate sample, as it is being processed on the batch disc pelletizer.

While some materials may be self-binding, in most cases, the right binder is critical to agglomeration success. Binders are available by the hundreds, and require careful consideration to select the right one for the job at hand.

When choosing a binder, a variety of factors should be accounted for, including environmental implications, color, odor, industry standard, cost, and end use. The ideal binder should ultimately improve bonding forces and pellet durability, and help to achieve the proper wet strength and dry crush strength.

If you need assistance in selecting a binder that fits your material and overall processing goal, FEECO’s Process Experts are ready to help. Our 60+ years of testing experience allows us to recommend not only the best binder, but the best equipment set-up for your agglomeration operation.
