This week’s photo shows a raw and pelletized gypsum sample from the FEECO Innovation Center. Gypsum can present unique challenges, and for this reason, testing is often necessary to achieve successful gypsum processing.

Customers come to the FEECO Innovation Center to test the feasibility of a new gypsum product, to enhance the characteristics or performance of an existing product, to improve a process, or develop new ones. Oftentimes, customers are looking to create a durable pellet, capable of breaking down in standard field conditions while also counteracting dust and improve handling.

Gypsum processing in the FEECO Innovation Center often starts at batch scale, where small samples of material are tested to gather data and determine feasibility of the intended goal. When batch testing is successful, continuous pilot-scale testing may be conducted; this is a much larger scale test, where the material is processed in a continuous loop. Both gypsum pelletizing and drying can be tested in the FEECO Innovation Center.

FEECO has been a pioneer in material processing since the 1950s, and has extensive knowledge in gypsum pelletizing and drying. Our process experts are able to develop customized testing programs congruent with each customer’s unique gypsum sample, and general processing goals.
