Our photo this week is a sand dryer used in processing frac sand.

The 8’-6” x 50’ long dryer utilizes co-current airflow to reduce the moisture content of mined sand.

The rotary dryer contains an additional 5’ shell length to incorporate flame cut openings to support an externally mounted wire mesh trommel screen. The purpose of the screen is to ensure that only material of appropriate particle size distribution moves on to transportation or storage.

The discharge breeching also uses an oversize design to reduce the dust load to the scrubber or baghouse.

Finally, the dryer utilizes forward kicker flights at the inlet, in addition to flights throughout the remainder of the drum, to maximize heat transfer.

FEECO’s custom, and quality constructed frac sand dryers are an ideal means of drying your material. In addition to dryers, we also offer various material handling equipment to seamlessly transport frac sand throughout your operation. To learn more about FEECO’s capabilities, contact us today!
