Sintering is the process of heating a material to a point just before melting via a rotary kiln. The objective here is to use the high internal temperature of the rotary kiln to increase the strength of the material.
The most common use of this process is in the creation of manufactured proppants, where the sand or ceramic material needs to have high strength. High strength allows the proppants to hold open rock fissures under extreme pressures.
FEECO has been a leader in the thermal processing industry since the 1950s. We not only conduct sintering test work in our Innovation Center, but FEECO also offers custom designed and manufactured rotary kilns to fit the needs of our customer’s material and overall processing goals.
