Why is Testing Critical in Organics Granulation Development?

When it comes to working with organic materials, testing is critical because not all animal manures are the same. The manure FEECO typically works with varies from cattle, hog or chicken, composted, digested or raw, and screened or unscreened. The moisture rates also vary and the desired product size and strength may differ as well. Some manures require recycle- one of the variables driving the equipment and process choice, and some require binder or another type of pre-processing (de-watering, screening, grinding, and perhaps pre-drying). Finally, some animal manures contain different bedding such as straw, sand, or paper- all of which may be an issue in processing. Thus feasibility testing is critical to confirm process viability, as well as to the development of the process and/or product.

FEECO’s Innovation Center is a state-of-the-art testing facility designed to help customers work out such process variables, gain critical material data, and develop a recipe for process scale-up.
