Dupont in Talks with Dow Chemical to Purchase Agri-Business Segment

With crop prices continuing to fall along with increasing fertilizer use/yield, companies in agribusiness are seeking ways to consolidate. Earlier last week Dow Chemical announced a review of its farm chemicals and seeds unit which has triggered discussions between Dupont and Dow Chemical on a possible purchase of Dow’s agri-business segment by Dupont.

U.S. House Passes Legislation to Ease Access to Minerals

Accessing mineral sites in the U.S. has been a long and arduous process that often discourages investment and mining. This in part is a cause of the lengthy and duplicative federal process to obtain permitting. However, this is now expected to change with the house passing legislation this week that would ease restrictions in accessing the estimated 6.2 trillion dollars worth of minerals in the United States.

Georgia Port Authority to Spend 152 Million Over 10 Years

The Georgia Port Authority has approved 152 million dollars to be spent on improvements and added capacity/growth to its Brunswick Port over the next 10 years. The Colonel’s Island Terminal is one of the largest deep water agri-bulk ports in the U.S. South Atlantic.

U.S. Nitrogen Market Poised to Reverse Two Decade Decline

A new report and infographic released this week by CoBank reports the nitrogen industry is set to reverse a two decade decline in the United States. The report finds that low natural gas prices have reinvigorated the nitrogen market with nearly all major players considering expansion and/or new greenfield sites all together.
