This week’s photo shows bucket elevators ready for shipment at the FEECO headquarters.

Bucket elevators are an integral component in many bulk material handling systems, with their capability to transport materials vertically. The buckets are attached to a chain or rotating belt and work by:

    • Picking up the material
    • Moving the material to a specified location
    • Discharging the material
    • Returning to the initial location to pick up another load

Bucket elevators come in centrifugal and continuous models, with slightly different operating functions. Centrifugal bucket elevators function at a higher speed and space the buckets farther apart than their continuous models. They are also available with a belt or single chain, whereas continuous bucket elevators can be designed with single or double chains, in addition to a single belt.

While FEECO’s bucket elevators are well suited for handling a diverse number of materials, including aggregates, calcined coke, and woodchips, they are not recommended for transporting sticky or wet materials. FEECO’s bucket elevators are ideal in heavy-duty applications requiring an engineered solution.
