This week’s photo highlights a rotary kiln resource recovery system.

FEECO worked with Xstrata Nickel (formerly Falconbridge) on a metal recycling process designed to recover nickel from waste materials such as spent batteries, catalysts, and other wastes. The system thermally treats the waste in a rotary kiln to produce a concentrated stream free of moisture and organics, which is then fed into smelters. The off-gas is treated to meet rigorous air quality requirements.

FEECO supplied a rotary kiln, afterburner, and quench tower for the system.

The overall process provides a sustainable and profitable solution for the recovery of valuable materials, that would have otherwise been considered waste.

From process development, to sizing and design, and even manufacturing, FEECO’s thermal processing team can assist with your rotary kiln needs. Contact us today for more information.
