This week’s photo highlights a pugmill mixer. FEECO’s Assembly Team is currently constructing the machine at our Fabrication Facility in Green Bay, WI (USA).
A pugmill mixer, also known as a paddle mixer, is a horizontal mixing, conditioning, and agglomerating device ideal for processing heavy-duty materials. Its design is based on a horizontal u-type trough with dual shafts and paddles extending the length of the trough. The action of the pitched paddles moves the material from the bottom of the trough up the middle, and forces the material back down along the sides. This process creates a kneading and folding over effect, and an intimate mixture of materials.
FEECO’s pugmill mixers are customized to suit your specific process at hand, and feature:
- Bottom doors open for clean out.
- A binder spray system to accommodate a liquid feed.
- Options in paddle facings to help prevent premature wear, and reversible paddles for modifying the mixing process.
- And more…
