Today’s photo highlights a batch pin mixer in the FEECO Innovation Center. Our team of Process Experts use the small-scale mixer during agglomeration lab tests for a variety of purposes.

The batch pin mixer is commonly used for pre-conditioning material samples, blending moisture or binder, before pelletizing in a disc pelletizer or rotary drum granulator. The pin mixer can also be used as a stand-alone agglomeration device to condition, de-dust, or micro-pelletize a material. The equipment set-up varies per material, processing goal, and overall end-product requirements.

The batch pin mixer is ideal for agglomeration labs when only a small sample of material is available for testing. Its compact size allows us to test different formulations in a small-scale setting, while still allowing us to achieve scalable results. Through testing, our Process Experts are able to experiment with different binder formulations, types, and amounts, as well as RPM’s and more, in order to develop the best agglomeration process for the material being tested.

In addition to testing at the FEECO Innovation Center, we also offer rental batch pin mixers for your on-site testing needs. For more information on FEECO’s batch pin mixer, contact us today!
