Thrust rollers, also sometimes referred to as thrust idlers, are a crucial part of a rotary drum’s base, preventing the drum from drifting longitudinally on its axis.

FEECO can supply thrust rollers in sizes ranging from 7-¾” – 48” in diameter. A variety of materials are available for thrust roller construction:
How often do thrust rollers require replacement?
Thrust rollers only need to be replaced if they become damaged from high thrust loading (excessive contact with the tire/riding ring). Thrust rollers not in contact with the tire will typically last the life of the drum, since they do not experience wear.
What is the lead time for thrust rollers?
While circumstances may vary, the lead time for thrust rollers typically ranges from 2-10 weeks depending on what exactly is needed (for example, a roller only, vs the entire assembly).
Is there anything else I need to keep in mind when ordering a thrust roller?
Because thrust rollers are part of the structural base, a full laser alignment may be required once the new thrust roller has been installed and the drum has been trained to achieve proper float. Thrust roller size is determined based on the drum’s rotation speed and loading (drum slope along with weight of drum and material being processed).

Please be sure to include the following information in the comments:
- FEECO serial number
- Any changes in specs
Or, if FEECO did not provide the original:
- Size of the roller
- Size of the shaft
- Bearing type
- Drum loading information
- Any drawings available that show the thrust roller mounting location
