Potash, or potassium-bearing material, is a necessary ingredient in plant growth, and therefore is used extensively in fertilizer. Though potash is widely used throughout Australia, previously, potash has not been produced in Australia. In a recent article in the Sydney Morning Herald, by Rebecca Le May, it was announced that an Australia firm plans to bring potash production to the region.

The article states that Potash West, a Perth-based firm, is surveying one of the largest potassium-rich deposits in the world, located in WA’s Perth Basin. According to the firm’s website, the area had previously been explored by others a number of times over the past several decades, but due to low potash prices, procurement of the potassium was not pursued. Technological advancements and demand for fertilizer on the rise have made this area a desirable resource.

While Potash production may be new to Australia, it is nothing new to FEECO International. FEECO has over 60 years in the potash industry, supplying material handling solutions such as bucket elevator and conveyor systems to potash producers. In addition to our material handling capabilities, we can provide high quality agglomeration equipment such as disc pelletizers and roll compactors, as well as rotary dryers for potash.
