The trunnion wheel, also known as a trunnion roller, is a key structural component of any rotary drum base, be it a dryer, cooler, kiln or granulator.

What trunnion wheels are available?

FEECO supplies trunnion wheels in 4140 or 4340 stainless steel. Sizes are available all the way up to 48” in diameter.

How often does a trunnion wheel require replacement?

Trunnion wheels only require replacement when they become too worn or damaged to be repaired via resurfacing or grinding, or when the diameter is less than 90% of the original size.

The lifespan of this component is entirely dependent on its unique operating conditions and is therefore different for each and every installation. Because damaged trunnions affect the mechanical stability of the rest of the drum, damaged wheels should be replaced as soon as possible.

What is the lead time for a trunnion wheel?

While circumstances may vary, trunnion wheels generally have a lead time of 6-10 weeks, varying based on size.

Is there anything else I need to keep in mind when ordering?

If one trunnion wheel is worn, others are likely wearing as well, making it common to replace trunnions in pairs. A full laser alignment should be performed with the installation of new wheels.
