This December, FEECO was recognized by the Green Masters Program as a “Green Professional,” meaning FEECO has performed actions in each of the nine sustainability areas, earning over 100 points total. The program, which is run by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council, recognizes Wisconsin companies with an outstanding dedication to integrating principles of sustainability into operations, while pursuing business excellence.
As a manufacturing and waste transformation company, FEECO has been manufacturing and developing processes based on extensive lab testing in order to transform waste materials into higher-end use products. For over 60 years, FEECO has been serving various industries around the world, transforming things like corn cobs into cat litter, or egg shells into calcium supplements.
“What FEECO does is very unique. Their approach to waste as an opportunity is what sustainability is all about,” stated Tom Eggert, Executive Director of the WI Sustainable Business Council. “We are thrilled to recognize them as an exemplar for Wisconsin industry.”
Some of the steps that FEECO has taken towards sustainability include measuring relevant Green House Gas metrics, completing an energy audit through Focus on Energy, replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents, server/network/storage virtualization, and using teleconferences regularly to decrease travel.

The Green Professional designation is the second highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing. 94 Wisconsin businesses have participated in the program where the top twenty percent achieve the highest “Green Master” designation.
