Fluorspar, also known as fluorite (calcium fluoride, CaF2) is an essential chemical feedstock in modern industry, with a growing role in high-tech and energy applications, as well as serving as a flux in steel and aluminum production. As the primary mineral source of fluorine, it is also critical in the production of hydrogen fluoride (HF).

Mixing & Agglomeration
Our comprehensive line of pin mixers, pugmill mixers, disc pelletizers, and agglomeration drums cover the diverse techniques required in producing homogeneous, de-dusted blends and agglomerated products that improve handling and downstream processing.
Drying & Cooling
Rotary dryers designed around fluorspar’s abrasive quality offer efficient concentrate drying at a high throughput. When cooling is required, custom-designed rotary coolers provide similarly effective temperature reduction.
Fluid bed dryers are also available for more gentle drying requirements.
High-Temperature Thermal Treatment
Direct and indirect rotary kilns provide the high-temperature, controlled atmosphere supporting thermal treatment, calcination, or specialty chemical processing of fluorine-bearing materials.
Bulk Material Handling
Heavy-duty bucket elevators, belt conveyors, steep incline, and shuttle conveyors ensure efficient, reliable fluorspar handling. Increase system flexibility with the incorporation of belt trippers and plows for multiple discharge points. Belt feeders are available for controlled material metering onto conveyors.
PLANT AND PILOT SCALE PROCESS TESTING AND DESIGN
Testing is often a critical component in the success of process and equipment design for fluorspar and related materials. The FEECO Innovation Center is a unique testing facility where we can test your material at both batch and pilot scale in order to work out process variables and design commercial-scale units, as well as scale up the process.
The FEECO Innovation Center is well-equipped to suit a wide range of testing needs, including mixing, pelletizing, drying, and high-temperature thermal treatment. We can test on a single piece of equipment, or as a continuous process loop.
Feasibility/Proof of Concept: An initial, non-witnessed batch testing phase in which the possibility of creating a product is explored.
Proof of Product: A more in-depth batch testing phase in which more time is spent determining whether a product can be made to desired specifications.
Proof of Process: A continuous testing phase that aims to establish the equipment setup and parameters required for continuous production of your specific material.
Process/Product Optimization: An in-depth study to optimize your specific material’s characteristics and/or production parameters in an industrial setting.
