With equipment and services utilized throughout the mining and processing of borate minerals and refined products such as borax, boric acid, and specialty borates, FEECO is a trusted partner in bringing boron materials to market.

Mixing & Granulation/Agglomeration

From granulating and coating boron fertilizers and soil amendments to agglomerating borate fines, FEECO’s suite of agglomeration equipment, including pin mixers, pugmill mixers, disc pelletizers, and agglomeration/granulation drums, enables producers to transform fine borate materials into uniform, consistently sized granules that improve handling, application, and downstream processing.

Rotary Dryers & Coolers

Borate ores (colemanite, ulexite, kernite, etc.) and concentrates, refined borates, and other borate compounds require precision moisture reduction and cooling to meet downstream specification requirements. Rotary dryers allow for controlled, high-throughput drying, while rotary coolers efficiently reduce material temperature after drying, calcination or other thermal treatment. All equipment is engineered and fabricated around the source material’s unique characteristics for a durable, lasting solution.  

Fluid bed dryers are also available for processing ultra-fine materials.

Rotary Kilns

For borate materials requiring thermal treatment such as calcination, rotary kilns provide precise temperature control and uniform residence time. FEECO rotary kilns are designed around the specific physical and thermal properties of borate ores, concentrates, and refined products to ensure consistent processing performance.

Bulk Material Handling

Streamline handling at the mine site and processing plant with bucket elevators, belt conveyors, steep incline, and shuttle conveyors designed around your specific handling challenges.  
Belt trippers and plows can be incorporated for applications requiring multiple discharge points. Belt feeders are also available for controlled material metering onto conveyors.

PLANT AND PILOT SCALE PROCESS TESTING AND DESIGN

The FEECO Innovation Center is a unique testing facility where we can test your material at both batch and pilot scale in order to work out process variables and design commercial-scale units, as well as scale up the process.

The FEECO Innovation Center is well-equipped to suit a wide range of testing needs, including mixing, pelletizing, drying, and high-temperature thermal treatment. We can test on a single piece of equipment, or as a continuous process loop.

Feasibility/Proof of Concept: An initial, non-witnessed batch testing phase in which the possibility of creating a product is explored.

Proof of Product: A more in-depth batch testing phase in which more time is spent determining whether a product can be made to desired specifications.

Proof of Process: A continuous testing phase that aims to establish the equipment setup and parameters required for continuous production of your specific material.

Process/Product Optimization: An in-depth study to optimize your specific material’s characteristics and/or production parameters in an industrial setting.
