How do High-Speed Mixers Work?

High-speed mixers are used in animal feed granulation, a process specific to FEECO International. The mixers provide a better-quality reaction, and results in a more uniform product.

The high-speed mixer is mounted atop of a pugmill mixer, also known as a paddle mixer. A shaft attached with paddles extends down the length of the chamber and spins at 300-400 RPMs. The spinning action initiates the reaction before the pugmill mixer, allowing for an enhanced reaction and homogeneous mixture. Once the material is thoroughly mixed, the high-speed mixer drops it via gravity into the pugmill mixer where the reaction is then completed. Once the material is granulated in the pugmill mixer, it is conveyed to a rotary dryer.
