In 1951, FEECO opened its doors for the very first time, as “Fertilizer Engineering and Equipment Company,” in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Fertilizer Engineering and Equipment Company was founded to provide solutions to the fertilizer industry through producing high-quality, engineered equipment for the production of fertilizer.

Though working primarily with the granulation process, turning raw materials into high-quality granules, FEECO quickly began to expand its capabilities to other areas, particularly in the material handling industry, building conveyor systems for unloading materials like potash from railcars to bins, and from ship to shore.

Although FEECO was making strides in expanding their offerings across multiple industries, due to their name, there was a misconception that FEECO worked only in the fertilizer industry. People would even stop in to the FEECO office to try to purchase fertilizer for their lawns and gardens.

At this time, the decision was made to change the name Fertilizer Engineering and Equipment Company, to the abbreviation, FEECO, with the addition of the word “International” following the abbreviation, due to the fact that FEECO had evolved to doing a good percentage of its business overseas.

It wasn’t long before this name change started opening doors to other industries.

Today, FEECO has built a worldwide reputation in numerous industries, most notably:

  • Waste transformation
  • Process design & optimization
  • Thermal processing equipment
  • Agglomeration equipment
  • Material solutions
