Two of FEECO’s Engineers, Ryan Loock and Marty Mettler, attended a University of Wisconsin-Madison course this week on the basics of engineering project management. Loock is a Project Manager at FEECO, with an emphasis of Structural Engineering analysis and design for Material Handling Equipment and Process Systems. Mettler is a Project Manager that has been with FEECO for over 20 years, and has an expertise in Mechanical Engineering.
The course, “Introductory Principles of Engineering Project Management,” is hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Engineering Professional Development, and is geared toward providing a thorough understanding of the foundations of effective project management, as well as real life applications of these principles.
The course counts toward maintaining the Professional Engineer license that both Mettler and Loock hold. The Professional Engineer license is given after an engineer meets a strict set of requirements, including schooling, work experience, and intensive competency exams. The licenses are upheld through continually meeting maintenance requirements through the engineer’s residing state.
Led by John G. Davis, Assistant Faculty Associate and Program Director, and Hugh “Jay” Huff, PMP, an engineer with decades of project management experience, the course covered everything from why projects fail, to managing scope creep.
