A sieve analysis measures particle size distribution, and more specifically, what percentage of on-size, over-size and under-size pellets are produced from the agglomeration process. The analysis is an important part of agglomerate process and product development, as it confirms whether or not the agglomeration process is producing the desired pellets.
Sieves are made up of a circular, metal frame with a screen-like mesh on the bottom. The pellets are screened in the mesh section. Various sieves exist, each with different standardized mesh sizes.
FEECO’s process experts in the Innovation Center know the importance of examining a material during each agglomeration lab they conduct. In addition to sieve analyses, our team also performs crush strength, compression tests, solubility, and more.
