Limestone is a sedimentary rock used in the agricultural industry as a soil amendment for raising soil pH.

Traditional products such as powdered and agricultural lime have been used throughout the industry, both not without challenges. Pelletizing lime has become an effective alternative. It is the quickest, most consistent and most effective solution for raising soil pH.

Pelletized limestone is a limestone that has been finely ground and processed into spherical pellets. This product offers many benefits over non-pelletized alternatives, including:

  • Increased nutrient absorption
  • Reduced soil erosion.
  • Dust-free product handling
  • Improved product formulations
  • Simplified transportation
  • More precise and easier application
  • Mitigation of product lost as dust
  • Opportunity for including additives (ex: Different types of lignins can be used as a binding agent; some lignins may add extra nutrients).

FEECO has worked with limestone since 1951, providing test work, process design, and custom-manufactured equipment. For more in-depth information, download our Limestone Processing Handbook, or contact today!
