Several signs indicate that a rotary drum is likely misaligned, including:
- Extensive tire/wheel wear
- Damage to the tire/wheel
- Pinion/girth gear wear
- Pinion/girth gear damage
- Extensive thrust roller wear
- Damage to the thrust roller
- Major contact between the drum and thrust rollers
Auditory clues can also indicate that a rotary drum may be out of alignment. Drive components should run smoothly, without excessive chatter or vibrations.
