This week’s photo highlights a rotary dryer’s direct drive assembly, the arrangement which causes the drum to rotate.

The direct drive assembly is ideal for small to medium size drums running up to 75 horsepower.

Here’s how it looks: A shaft is mounted to a solid discharge end plate at the outlet of the rotary drum. The motor and reducer are either directly connected to the shaft with a coupling, or a shaft mount arrangement.

From rotary dryers and coolers, to kilns and granulators, FEECO can assist in the ideal drive assembly based on the requirements of your application. For more information, contact a FEECO expert today!
