This week’s photo shows a batch kiln from FEECO’s Innovation Center. The batch kiln can be used for a variety of high-temp, thermal process testing applications, including waste incineration, mineral roasting, proppant sintering, and more. The batch kiln simulates conditions of a commercial size rotary kiln, allowing customers to test small batches of material, confirming feasibility, and defining process variables, all before investing in full-scale equipment.

Customers come to FEECO’s Innovation Center with inquires that can range all over the spectrum; some are starting from scratch with new ideas, while others have complete processes that need optimization. FEECO’s technicians can aid in both developing and refining processes for a variety of materials, no matter what stage a customer may be in.

The batch rotary kiln heats material to a point where a chemical reaction occurs, with temperatures reaching up to 3000°F (or 1650° C). Additional support equipment, such as a wet scrubbers and baghouses are also available.

The batch kiln is a key tool in helping customers to develop and confirm process specifications for high-temp settings.
