This week’s photo highlights wear on a rotary dryer’s downhill thrust roller.

Thrust rollers ride on the uphill and downhill edges of the rotary drum tire. They function to keep the drum from drifting, and ideally make little to no contact with the tire.

In the featured image, however, signs of wear indicate that the drum was riding downhill on the thrust roller quite hard. When this occurs, adjustments, or ‘training,’ should be made to the trunnion wheel’s bearings.

FEECO’s Customer Service Team is highly skilled in recognizing thrust roller wear, in addition to wear on other rotary drum components. If you notice any abnormalities, contact our Service Team today. It is important to address any areas of concern upfront, before they escalate into more serious issues.
