This week’s photo comes from the FEECO Innovation Center, where a sample is ready for a solubility test.

Solubility tests, or dissolving tests, look at how agglomerates behave in water. By submerging the agglomerated product in beakers of water, our process experts specifically analyze if the material dissolves, how much dissolves, as well as the temperature, and duration in time.

By testing a material’s solubility, our process experts are able to mimic how the agglomerates will perform as an end-product. Fertilizers, for example, should be strong enough to withstand standard field conditions, and yet still be able to breakdown as intended. Thus solubility tests are critical to the product and process development stages, allowing our team to fine-tune the testing process to create agglomerates that suit our customer’s end-product application.
