This week’s photo shows a cattle manure sample in its raw state (left) and granulated form (right). FEECO’s Process Experts transformed the manure into fortified, dry fertilizer granules.

There are several on-farm practices that affect the makeup of manure: animal species, feed, manure handling practices, separation systems, barn type, location etc. and all can affect the manures consistency. Moisture rates also vary, and so too, may the desired end-product size and strength. Because of this variance in manure makeup, testing is crucial to product and process development.

The FEECO Innovation Center regularly works with organic samples, such as the cattle manure shown in today’s photo. Here, our team of Process Experts run various batch tests to not only determine the feasibility of granulation, but the best process and equipment setup to transform the raw manure to a premium fertilizer product.
