FEECO Hammer Mills
The FEECO double rotor chain hammer mill is a super heavy duty mill adapted to the toughest job with two sets of chain / bar links. Reduces moist materials with a minimum amount of fines and caking or plastering within the crusher. Ideal for granulated and pelletized material. The unit produces maximum product in the size range of 2-4 mm.
Advantages of a FEECO Chain Hammer Mill include:
- Specifically Designed - For breaking oversize granular materials efficiently and at high rates of production.
- Cracking Action - No grinding – Full stream of oversize is directed into rotating chains without pulverizing action.
- Non-Clogging Design - Ample clearance throughout helps flow of material…prevents build-up and production down time.
- Easy Access - Quarter section of housing can be removed by taking out only eight bolts which provides good accessibility.
- Simplified Maintenance - All component parts can be easily removed and replaced.
- Durable Construction - Heavy duty steel housing, oversized bearings and specially hardened chain hammers provide dependability.

How does a Hammer Mill work?
The concept is fairly straightforward. A hammer mill is essentially a steel housing containing a horizontal cross-shaped rotor on which pivoting chain hammers are mounted. The hammers are free to swing on the ends of the chain. The rotor is spun at a high speed inside the housing while material is fed into the top of the unit. The material is impacted by the hammers on the ends of the rotating chains and thereby is milled into fine particles.
Varying the screen size, shaft speed, or hammer configuration can dramatically alter the finished size of the product being ground. Faster speed, a smaller screen, and more hammers result in a finer end product. Each component can be changed individually or in any combination to produce the precise grind required.
